How Can severe Lower Back Pain Be Treated?

I ve had sudden onset of lower back pain that has lasted over two weeks. No accidents. Felt a twitch while stepping out of a shower two weeks ago. Seems to be getting better a few days ago but in last two days it feels like a deep bruise, though there is no bruising. Again, no fall. Male 53 y.o. Non smoker
